Quartz

This is a beautiful specimen showing a few nice sized crystals on it. When the light hits it just right it shows a rich umber color. This has tiny crystal growth on the side. Some parts may look to have dust on it, however that is tiny crystal growth! How cool!

Smokey quartz is a variety of quartz.  The color can vary from brown to almost black to smokey gray. Natural smokey quartz often occurs in granitic rocks which have a small but persistent amount of radioactivity. Durable, It’s a 7 on the Mohs scale for hardness.
It is thought to be a very protective and grounding stone, bringing physical and psychic protection. Also an excellent stone for protection from negative energy, as it removes negativity of any kind and transforms it to positive energy.

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. It has been called the "ice of the gods" by many ancients, & has been recognized as having extraordinary physical and metaphysical properties. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs Scale. This specimen is colored by natural iron inclusions.
